My Super Summer Toolkit (Ages 4-13)
Created by Registered Clinical Counsellor Samantha Porter, My Super Summer Toolkit is a thoughtfully designed 24-page workbook that helps children strengthen emotional regulation, coping skills, and independence through fun, engaging, and evidence-informed activities.
Summer and holidays can often brings a welcome break from school routines, but it can also lead to boredom, bigger emotions, difficult transitions, and a loss of structure. This toolkit was intentionally created to give children a predictable, supportive way to stay connected to healthy habits while making summer enjoyable.
Designed for children approximately ages 4–14 (with activities that can be adapted based on developmental level and neurotype), the workbook introduces practical skills in a child-friendly way using worksheets, visual supports, reflection activities, and Sunny—the toolkit's cheerful summer sidekick—who appears throughout to keep learning fun and engaging.
Inside you'll find activities such as:
Summer Day Planner
Summer Bucket List
Routine-building worksheets
Feelings check-ins
Coping skills toolbox
Grounding and mindfulness activities
Calm-down strategies
Boredom busters
Goal setting
Gratitude and reflection exercises
Parent guidance and tips
Every page was intentionally created from strategies I regularly use with children and families in my counselling practice. Rather than simply keeping kids busy, each activity has a purpose: helping children better understand themselves, manage big feelings, build resilience, and develop lifelong coping skills.
